Fairfield is 40!

Fairfield were established April 1982 by Roger Ellis and Ron Millington with the aim of helping customers print labels which required bar codes. They wanted to identify products and process them using scanners, so they could spend more time focusing on their business. Early successes created rapid growth after becoming recognised as specialists in this area and formed the Company’s ethos of providing high quality products and solutions, backed by great customer service – values which still form the backbone of our Company business today.

Since then, we’ve been helping our customers label, identify and automate their operations using a variety of technologies and applications, from product and in-process labels to laser marking and more recently digital printing – constantly evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of our diverse customer base, from Start-ups and SMEs to Global multi-site organisations.

Our Managing Director, Mark Lynch, joined the business in 2000, increasing the coding expertise of the organisation and also incorporating RFID, which was in its infancy at the time. This took Fairfield from a traditional labelling and scanning company, to a full provider of end to end solutions. Using close, strong and impartial relationships with the industry’s leading software, hardware and integration companies, Fairfield quickly established itself as a leader in Auto ID. Mark then subsequently led an MBO to take over the company in January 2004, prompting the next stage in the Company’s growth plans.

Our team at Fairfield are key to its success – the very first employee taken on by Roger and Ron shortly after formation still works at Fairfield today, with a number of staff having a great many years of experience and skill sets to understand our customers’ requirements in order to provide the very best label or Auto ID solution.

Today we retain and continue to expand our key relationships with the industry’s leading manufacturers, embracing new technologies and constantly updating our product portfolio across all industry sectors, including Manufacturing, Transportation & Logistics, Automotive, Food & Drink & Healthcare, ensuring the products and services we provide today will be relevant, up to date and available to all our customers for at least the next 40 years.

Fairfield Launches New Customer Demonstration Facility

Fairfield Labels Limited are excited to announce the opening of our new Customer Showroom at our Droitwich, Worcestershire head office.

Designed to showcase the Company’s range of RFID technology products from leading Global manufacturers, there are a number of applications on show to demonstrate the versatility of the technology, from retail applications through track and trace and inventory control applications to heavy industrial applications, such as those found in the automotive and engineering sectors. The facility also aims to demonstrate solutions to previously thought of as challenges, such as RFID on metal, tags to embed into metal and also tags to embed into wood for pallet tracking applications.

Also present is a range of creative label materials, designed to provoke thought and inspiration to help maximise shelf-appeal for food and beverage applications – particularly relevant given the Company’s close proximity to one of the UK’s largest food and drinks producing areas. Customers can visit the showroom, bringing in an idea or even their product to see how different types of label materials can enhance their product or reinforce their Company’s brand image.

Finally, there is a range of variable data hardware on show, including thermal transfer printers, and RFID readers, to create and process your own barcodes or variable data and then discover how to implement these technologies into your existing processes to maximise production efficiency and help you gain a competitive edge.

Stephen Leake, Fairfield’s Marketing & RFID Business Manager commented “the addition of our new customer facility enables us to offer our existing and prospective customers the opportunity to really get “hands-on” in understanding the range of products and technologies we offer and also to take away some of the science especially associated with RFID.  It’s a great facility to visit to bring in your labelling and Auto ID thoughts and challenges, from a simple labelling application, right through to a fully integrated manufacturing or logistics system”.

He went on to say “this new facility really ties into our overall value proposition around manufacturers who are looking for bespoke development, from concept to implementation of  label, Auto-ID, barcoding and RFID – we specialise in solutions that will deliver fast ROI, increased process efficiencies and cost savings”

The facility is available for customers on a pre-booked basis.

Fairfield Labels Limited, renowned labelling experts across many sectors, is offering to work with customers old and new to audit their labelling requirements with a view to increasing labelling efficiency and reducing labelling costs.

Often an organisation’s label requirements evolve over time and the operational staff in charge of re-ordering tend inherit a lot of label types in terms of size, shape and material. This can get out of hand.  Fairfield Labels have helped many customers with this challenge and have a proven formula for tackling it effectively.  Spencer Ruddick, Sales Manager, Fairfield Labels said, “We recently helped one customer reduce its label requirements from over one hundred label types down to just four. Of course this made a big difference for them, not only reducing costs but we helped them improve their labelling processes.

“Some label producers may see the label audit as a negative in terms of preventing larger label orders for themselves. We don’t look at it like that.  We are in it for the long term.  We save our customers money, help them improve operational efficiencies and continue to provide them with quality labels for many years to come.  We are happy to put in the effort up front with a free label audit and be remembered for making a difference.”
